Early September Gerhard Kracher and Heidi Schröck visited Oslo for a tasting with several of their sweet wines. Read our impressions from the tasting.

This is a little summing up the impressions we got from visiting Saale-Unstrut. Also trying to make some sense of the region as a wine-producing region. Read our impressions.

Here are some notes on wines that we tasted on different occasions on our trip to Germany in September and that did not fit into those articles already published.

Last visit in the Mosel went to Martin Müllen, who is a winemaker that makes natural wines very true to vintage and soil. Here are our impressions from tasting the difficult 2006-vintage.

After the tasting in Nahe we went back to Mosel and tasted through the 2006-vintage from Daniel Vollenweider. Here are the notes.

So to the last VdP-versteigerung of 2007. In Bad Kreuznach the best wines from Nahe, Ahr and Pfalz were up for sale. Here you can read the notes.

Someone once said to me that three years in a row makes a happening annual. So the third annual klitzekleinen ring took place in the Julius Kayser-cellar in Traben-Trarbach on saturday 23d of September. Here you can read the notes.

So again we went to the VdP-auction in Trier. The best cuvees of the 2006-vintage was a mixed case and a disappointment after the fine 2005-vintage. The wines did not have as clean botrytis as last year and there was a lot of fat and sweet wines. Tasting notes here.

Last winemaker-visit in Saale-Unstrut went to Winzerhof Gussek. Together with Bernhard Pawis and Lützkendorf, Gussek is the last of the three top producer of the region. Here are the notes from the tasting at Gussek.

Next visit was to the other VdP-member in Saale-Unstrut - Weingut Bernhard Pawis. Here are the notes.

In September we once again went to Germany for tastings. First we spent three days in the Saale-Unstrut. First we visited Uwe Lützkendorf for the second year in a row. Here are the notes from the tasting of mostly the 2006-vintage.

Notes from a private wine-tasting with wines chosen to match with game.
Read the notes here.

The second Klitzekleinen Ring was held in the Alte rittersaal in Trarbach on the 23d of September-2006. There are now 12 winemakers that are part of this ring of young winemakers in and around Traben-Trarbach. A couple of newcomers showed some great wines this years.
Read the tasting notes here.

Young Andreas Adam is a rising star in the Mosel, making wines from the Dhroner Hofberg-einzellage that deserves a better reputation. Under the family's AJ Adam-label he makes wines that made lead the way for more people to learn to know this vineyard. Here are the notes from our visit.

Finally I have come around to write out the notes from this years VdP-auction in Trier. The best cuvees of the 2005-vintage proved to be an excellent tasting. Tasting notes here.

Next up was a visit at a producer we have not visited in 4 years; Reinhold Haart. We had heard good things about the new vintage and were looking forward to tasting them. Here are our impressions.

The second tasting in the Mosel is also at an old friend in Traben-Trarbach; this time at Martin Müllen, who had already started harvesting his rivaner by the time we did the tasting. Still they took the time and we were very satisfied with the results. Here you can read the notes.

So we drive from Wachau to Mosel. The first visit is at an old friend; Daniel Vollenweider. Mosel was busy these days in September as harvest was very early this year. But we got an appointment for a morning-tasting of the new vintage.

The last day in Wachau, we decided to go to Kremstal and visit an old favourite producer of the roter veltliner; Mantlerhof. Here you can read the notes from our visit and the tasting.

The next stop in Wachau was a visit at a long time favourite of mine; Weingut Prager, where we tasted the 2005-vintage of the wines. Here you can read the notes.
