Tasting notes

Deep brown-red colour. Very dark for such an old Barolo. Mature and evolved nose. Hints of wet earth, smoke, cherries, some tar, some florality. In the mouth it is a fullbodied wine with still lots of fruit. Evolved and hints of wet earth, smoke, some greenish notes. Also some light tar and floral notes that would be typical for a nebbiolo. High acidity and some tannins on the finish, but very light for a nebbiolo. Looking at every other aspect of this bottle it seems to be no fake bottle. My understanding would be that this Barolo has a high degree of other grapes than nebbiolo in it. Barbera would easily fit in. The wine is made before the regulations of the DOC, so it would not be illegal. It is a good wine that has kept well, but it is no great Barolo.
