Tasted blind. Brick-red colour. Deep core, orangy-brick rim. Complex
fine nose. No doubt nebbiolo. Quity fruity and elegantly
floral. Hints of cherries, leather and anise. In the mouth
this is a highly elegant and acidic Barolo with good
concentration. Fruity with a complex leather and anise-notes
and fine floral character. Must be a Barolo, not the most
tannic, probably from the Barolo-commune. The year?? Around
end of 70’s I guess. Not tannic enough for a 78, but with
good concentration. Perhaps a 82 or a very good 79.
It turns out to be Barolo Riserva Speciale 1964 from Enrico
Serafino. A producer situated in Canale and buying in grapes
from the Barolo-zone. I have tasted a few wines from this
producer before with little luck. I am amazed at the quality
and freshness of this bottle. Great Barolo and still with a
lot of primary character. On top now and no rush to drink it.
