Tasted blind. This wine has a light brick-red colour, a lot lighter and more brown than the previous wine. In the nose this wine shows a lot of sweet old wood-aromas, coffee and leather. Clearly an older wine. Still recognizable as a Barolo. Elegant and light in the mouth. SurPriceingly good structure give this wine more life than one expected from the nose. Some anise, good acids and still a tannic end. The anise-character makes me guess this is a more eastern Barolo, perhaps Castiglione or even Serralunga. The year?? It is clearly older than the previous wine (Barolo Riserva Speciale 1964, Enrico Serafino ). I would normally guess the early 60’s.The label reveals Barolo Riserva La Villa 1964, Fontanafredda. From the same year as the previous wine, but the wine has not had the same great storage. It tastes 15 years older. Still a very good wine. Needs to be drunk.
