Tasting held at Computerland November 6th-2006. Theme was wines for game, wines were tasted double blind.

Wine #1:
Tight brick-red colour. The fine nose shows meat, earth, pepper, red berries. Some evolvement. Powerful and quite fruity in the mouth. Still mostly primary fruit. Good concentration, much fruit, little fatness. Fruit shows dark berries, earth. Good structure, rich in tannins, quite drying towards the end. Rich alcohol, but well-balanced. Shows more grenache-like fruit than Syrah.
Chateauneuf-du-Pape "La Crau" 1995, Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe, 14% alc.

Wine #2:
Brick red colour. Nose quite herbacious with hints of oak, red berries, some dill and vanilla. Spanish style. In the mouth this shows a quite round structure, kind and also quite silky. Mature, fine fruit showing red berries, leather, vanilla, dill. Round acids and light tannins in the back. Fully mature and nice.
Gran Coronas Gran reserva (black label) 1978, Torres, Vilafranca del Penedes, 12,55% alc.

Wine #3:
Deep brick-red colour. Fruitier nose, some earth, red berries, skin, oak. Powerful wine in the mouth, more peppery fruit here, some smoke, very fine depth. More complex, but quite primary. Some sweetness. Structured wine and tannic. Needs some time. Fine.
Chateauneuf-du-Pape 1990, Chateau de Beaucastel, 13,5% alc.

Wine #4:
Tight dark purple colour. Young. Fresh nose of dark berries, pepper, some leather, some caramel. A lot of high notes. Young and fruity style in the mouth. Fine, but a lot simpler style here. Nice and quite cool fruit. Some drying tannins in the back. Decent wine. One to drink while it is young and has fruit.
Gigondas "Le brut du Foudre 56" 2001, La Cave Gigondas

Wine #5:
Brick-red colour. Nose shows skin, blackcurrant, tobacco, leather, oak, lead-pencil. Typical Bordeaux, quite merlotish. Powerful in the mouth, evolved fruit, complex and very nice. Typical Bordeaux, shows some merlot-fruit. Quite kind and much fruit, but structured and still tannins in the end. Great wine now, but will last.
