Sicilian white made 100% from the local grape carricante.
This had a straw colour and with some airing it showed a
great and stoney nose with hints of petrol and flowers.
Medium bodied in the mouth. Nice fruitiness and showing
it's vulcanic soil. Lightly bitterness in the finish.
Great acidic structure and good length. Very interesting
wine that would appeal to lovers of rieslings.
Arnt Egil Nordlien Tasting note: Feb-01
100% carricante. Straw colour. Nose is mineral - ashy,
vulcanic - almost smokey. Light hints of green leafs and
petrol. Very fine nose indeed. Good body in the mouth.
Slightly fatness in the start of the tasting-curve. Then
the acidic backbone kicks in, leaving a appley/lemony
finish. So this needs some more time. Good length. Great
italian white that has potensial. Who thought Sicily could
give such a structured and acidic white? Some of the reason
is the vines for this vineyard that are planted at 950 m.
But watch out for this producer that also makes a wonderful
varietal nero d'avola.
