Still and barriqued Freisa d'Asti. Deep red colour with a very light touch brick. Nice, floral nose, showing Piedmont-terroir. Hints
of cherries, tobacco and bitter almonds. Powerful wine in the mouth and highly concentrated fruit with good acidity and almost
nebbiolo-like tannins in the back. Very nice fruit, still a bit on the young side. Floral and more fruity than nebbiolo. Still a
slight touch vanilla in the finish, but oak is nicely integrated (the label said barriques, but not if they were new or old and how
long). Give it a couple of more years to round things off and this will be a tremendous wine. Outstanding QPR and showing that
Piedmont is still a highly interesting region with a lot of unexplored wines.
