Deep brick-red colour. The nose shows typical hints of tar, sweet liquorice, sweet oak-notes and some florality. Powerful and slightly
fat Gattinara in the mouth with lots of fruit. Some fine nebbiolo-hints of sweet liquorice, tar and florality. Perhaps a tad ripe.
Mixed with hints of sweet oak, the sweetness is a bit too much for me. Decent acidity and shows quite some tannins in the back. A bit
hard and also some oakiness shines through. This is a very good wine, but not the style of nebbiolo I am searching for. According to
their homepage 30% of the juice is aged in french barriques. This seems oakier and the sweetness is a bit off-putting to me. Made in a
purer style, this would have been very interesting. Perhaps aging will do it good.
