Tasting notes

Dark red colour. THe nose shows cherries, earth, autumn-leafs and a hint of stable. Powerful nebbiolo in the mouth. Fine fruit, young but complex. Hints of earth, cherries. Needs time to open up. Huge structure. Lots of acidity and tannins. Dry finish. Needs time to round off and open up. Very good nebbiolo.

Deep red colour. Slightly bricking. Complex and great smell of animal fur, stable (like in a mature Medoc), leather, roses, cherries. Good body in the mouth and very toughly structured. High acidity and very tannic end. Good fruit-concentration, especially considered the reputation of the vintage (The 94's I have tasted from Cantalupo have been excellent). More mineral-notes in the mouth than on the nose. Hints of wood, and tealeafs. Quite mature fruitiness. Good length and long aftertaste. Will keep very well. Had this at dinner with some friends who are not experienced wine-drinkers. I made a steak of deer which went well with the wine and "softened" it's tough structure. It was funny to see that my friends enjoyed the wine very much with the food, but afterwards when sipping to the wine without food they found the wine to tough. For me this is just a fantastic wine.

The wine was aired for 4 hours in a Barolo-decanter. Served in Riedel vinum burgundy-stems.
The colour was deep brick red. The nose a bit closed first, but opened up with some more time in the glass. Quite leathery and complex with hints of old dust, tar, cherries, some coffee. Powerful and dry Ghemme in the mouth. Shows more fruit on the palate. Also some tar and leather. A little low concentration of fruit. But with time it shows a little more. High cleansing acids and very dry and tannic finish. Obvious nebbiolo-structure and quite a hard one. But I like it. I would give remaining bottles 2-3 more years.

This is a young nebbiolo with loads of drying tannins. The fruit here starts to come round though and shows some evolved complexity. Deep red colour. Nose shows hints of bark, tar, wood and fine high notes with hints of flowers and anise. Fullbodied and sturdy style in the mouth. Good concentration of fruit. The fruit shows bark, tar, leather, some dust. Some complexity. The acidity is fine and the end is highly tannic and dry. Coating tannins. Starts to drink nicely. Give it another couple of years.
