The wine had a deep red colour. Ruby at the core and with a slight yellow rim. Very nice smell with some complexity. Great
cherry-notes. Morelloes. Actually reminds me a bit of a traditionally made amarone (but without the raisiny aroma). Some leather,
bitter-almonds and earth. Good body in the mouth. Very good fruit-concentration. Some hints of anise and minerals. Surprisingly
young fruit yet as I thought this would be starting to get old. I would guess this wine is at it's peak now. Great acidic structure
and slight tannins kick in at the back. Good length. Great wine.
Arnt Egil Nordlien Tasting note: Aug-01
Deep brick-red colour. Fine evolved and complex nose with hints of sweet anise, wet earth, red berries. Fullbodied and a bit warm
style in the mouth. Round and supple fruit. Evolved and complex, but still shows plenty of concentration. Some sweetness in the
fruit. Hints of anise, wet earth, cherries. Medium acids and tannins enough to give it a good structure. This was always the best
vintage of Notarpanaro and it has aged remarkably well. It is on top now, but this shows no signs of declining. Will probably hold at
least for another 5 years. Great wine.
