Tasting notes

This was a shockingly great bottle from a to me unknown producer. Golden/brownish colour. Floral nose. Complex and evolved. Hints of old woods, honey and an interesting minerality. Fullbodied and sweetish auslese in the mouth. Evolved, but still plenty of life. Floral and mineral Rheingau auslese with some light earthy hints. Great depth and clean and focused fruit. Bright fine acidity and long taste. Tremendous wine.

This bottle came from the same source as the previous bottle, but had significantly lower fill. In the glass it is a rather dark and brownish riesling, much darker than the first bottle. In the nose you get this caramelly, sugary nose, but there is also a lot of fine notes here. Smoke, minerals, good complexity and depth. No doubt a great wine. Fullbodied, but yet a slim and behaved auslese with a fine minerality and depth behind a layer of creme brulee-like sugaryness. Fine acidity keeping everything in place and good length with a hint of dry-extract on the finish. A very good wine that impresses with it's depth, but lacks a little the purity of the previous bottle.
