This is a bottle I have had lying around some years now, not knowing what to expect. So I simply opened the bottle. Fill was good, cork looked old but behaved as it should. Colour was surprisingly still deep red and did not show much age. The fizz here was almost gone, only a very slight pirckle was left of the spumante. The nose was quite fruity with hints of cherries, raisins, dried flowers and old wood. Good body and surprisingly fruity in the mouth. Perhaps a bit less concentration than you expect, but this wine tasted actually young and fruity. Cherries, bitter-almonds, raisins. Only a slight hint of old woody-flavours. Sweetness has disappeared over the time and acids are good. Drier than you would expect a recioto. Medium length and no tannins to speak of. Very good, but perhaps mostly remarkable in it's youthful fruit.
