If I remember correctly this was the first vintage of this wine. The origins of this wine was that Giuseppe Quintarelli found that
the amarone in 1994 was not good enough to be released on its own. In vintages like this he then normally blended the amarone with
the straight Valpolicella – like in ’92. But in ’94 Quintarelli still found a weak spot for the juice and really wanted to bottle
it separately. So he did under this name. In certain years since he has repeated this. So practically this is an amarone and better
than most in that category. The wine has a deep red colour. The nose is pretty. Very intense and rich. Typical hints of ripe fruits.
Lots of kirsch. Old-fashioned amarone with lightly leathery, earthy hints and also hints of spontaneous fermentation. Not that much
volatile hints here. Powerful wine in the mouth. Huge concentration of ripe fruits. Raisins and kirsch in the fruit. Young and
fruity. But it has some complexity. Leathery hints, earthy aged complexity. Little botrytis. Medium acids. Tight finish with some
tannins showing. Still on the young side, but this is starting to open up its register. Tremendous quality.
