This was a typical Scharzhofberger and a wine that showed the vineyard well. But the wine is a little rustic and with an earthy note
that takes away some of the focus. Yellow, lightly towards brown colour. Fine nose with lots of cold stones, steel and mineral. Some
earth, underripe flowers. Medium bodied riesling in the mouth with some sweetness, but a cool and acidic structure that balances the
sweetness. Quite slim and citrusy fruit. Underripe style. Again lots of minerality, steelyness. Showing the vineyard. But also a bit
evolved old-fashioned fruit on the rustic side. Taking away some of the focus in the fruit. High acidity and good length. Drinks
well now. Very good wine.
Arnt Egil Nordlien Tasting note: Dec-07
Lightly yellow colour. Slatey and steely nose. Very typical and pretty nose. Mineral, light underripe flowers and petrol. Medium bodied
spätlese in the mouth. Slight sweetness. Rounded off-sugars and quite acidic mouthfeel. An intellectual wine with great mineral depth
and steely feel. Shows a lot of vineyard-character. Lemony finish with light dry-extract showing. Quite old-fashioned for Egon Müller.
Very good wine on top right now. Better than the previous bottle.
